The Messengers' Response to Demand for Authority (14:11)

 ... Ibrahim (14:11) قَالَتْ لَهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ إِن نَّحْنُ إِلَّا بَشَرٌۭ مِّثْلُكُمْ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَمُنُّ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ ۦ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ لَنَآ أَن نَّأْتِيَكُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ١١ Their messengers said to them, “We are ˹indeed˺ only humans like you, but Allah favours whoever He chooses of His servants . It is not for us to bring you any proof without Allah’s permission. And in Allah let the believers put their trust. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran Their prophets said to them, “We are no more than a human being like you, but Allah bestows His favour upon whom He wills from among His servants . It is not for us to bring you an authority without Allah’s permission, and in Allah the believers must place their trust. — T. Certainty (15:99)

 and (continue) worshipping, submitting as muslims  Al-Hijr (15:99) وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ ٩٩ [ https://quran.com/al-hijr/99 ] Copied from  Certainty (الۡيَـقِيۡنُ‏) The     Surah alHijr (The Rocky Tract) begins with the statement that these are the ayaat of The Book, and the Clear Quran (Q15:1), and those who doubt will wish they were muslims (Q15:2). The concluding ayat of this surah commands to continue worshipping your Rabb till the certainty comes (Q15:99).  The word ( الۡيَـقِيۡنُ ‏) has been variously translated and understood, such as:  وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ  ٩٩ and worship your Lord until the inevitable [1]  comes your way. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran [1]  i.e., lit., what is certain—death. and worship your Lord until comes to you that which is certain. — T. Protect my sons (14:35)

 ... Abraham (14:35) وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ رَبِّ ٱجْعَلْ هَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدَ ءَامِنًۭا وَٱجْنُبْنِى وَبَنِىَّ أَن نَّعْبُدَ ٱلْأَصْنَامَ ٣٥ [ https://quran.com/ibrahim/35 ] The Quran, Surah Ibrahim, quotes the dua of Abraham (Ibrahim  عليه السلام ) from ayat 35 to ayat 41.  Beginning with ayat 35, translating it phrase by phrase:  وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ and said Abraham   رَبِّ my Lord-Sustainer   ٱجْعَلْ make  هَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدَ  this land/country  ءَامِنًۭا  peaceful/safe  وَٱجْنُبْنِى وَبَنِىَّ and prevent me and my sons  أَن  نَّعْبُدَ  ٱلْأَصْنَامَ from the worship of idols  Abraham (Ibrahim  عليه السلام ) prayer for protection from the worship of idols includes his sons (plural).  He first prays for safety/peace. Authority (14:10)

 ...  Abraham (14:10) ۞ قَالَتْ رُسُلُهُمْ أَفِى ٱللَّهِ شَكٌّۭ فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ يَدْعُوكُمْ لِيَغْفِرَ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرَكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّۭى ۚ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌۭ مِّثْلُنَا تُرِيدُونَ أَن تَصُدُّونَا عَمَّا كَانَ يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَا فَأْتُونَا بِسُلْطَـٰنٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ ١٠ Their messengers asked ˹them˺, “Is there any doubt about Allah, the Originator of the heavens and the earth? He is inviting you in order to forgive your sins, and delay your end until your appointed term.” [1] They argued, “You are no more than humans like us! You ˹only˺ wish to turn us away from what our forefathers worshipped . I have been commanded (13:36)

 ... The Thunder (13:36) وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ يَفْرَحُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ ۖ وَمِنَ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ مَن يُنكِرُ بَعْضَهُۥ ۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱللَّهَ وَلَآ أُشْرِكَ بِهِ ۦٓ ۚ إِلَيْهِ أَدْعُوا۟ وَإِلَيْهِ مَـَٔابِ ٣٦ ˹The believers among˺ those who were given the Scripture rejoice at what has been revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺, while some ˹disbelieving˺ factions deny a portion of it. Say, “I have only been commanded to worship Allah, associating none with Him ˹in worship ˺ . To Him I invite ˹all˺, and to Him is my return.” — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran Those to whom We have given the Book are happy with what has been sent down to you. And among their groups there are those who deny some of it. Say, “I am commanded only to worship Allah and not to ascribe partners to Him . To Him I call and to Him is my return.” — T.
